About The Quarter

The Ice House Quarter in Abbey Road provides affordable studio space to help promote and support the development of sustainable creative industries. It helps form links between existing creative arts, performance, design and craft based organisations, to broaden the range of creative activity within the Borough of Barking & Dagenham.

These key values embrace promotion of and accessibility to, the arts and arts based activities. Through the provision of commercially affordable and flexible term leases or hires, the quarter seeks to encourage and stimulate creative entrepreneurial activity.

The ultimate aim of the quarter is to develop a sustainable creative industries hub, providing an identifiable location and destination for creative businesses and entrepreneurs. The hub concept will also provide an integrated and supported network for mutual creative trading and business development.

This development has been a long held vision of the borough as well as former London wide partners such as the former London Development Agency, now the Greater London Authority, and is now being delivered through the commercial hands of the family owned Rooff Rooff Group.
